Vanriet's exhibition 'The Testaments', commissioned by Davids fonds, includes 80 paintings that illustrate the bible. It is an anthology of the Old and New Testament. Passages were selected from the Creation to the Apocalypse that confront hope, loss, oppression, love and solidarity, amongst others. In short, these universal life lessons and stories that deal with the wide range of human feelings contain a very high, contemporary value thanks to their timeless content.
Vanriet's aim was to transpose the thousand-year-old messages to images of today. From a deep historical sense, he explained the links between major Biblical moments and current phenomena and events with substantive relation.
